The Secret to the Perfect Fit

Why measurements are the foundation of custom garments.

Accurate measurements are the silent architects of style. In the world of custom fashion, there is a difference between a garment that simply covers you and one that truly celebrates your silhouette. Taking the time to measure correctly ensures that every curve is considered and every seam aligns, creating a piece that feels made for you and boosts your confidence with every wear.

What You'll Need

Flexible Tape Measure

A soft, flexible cloth or plastic tape is essential for following the curves of your body accurately.

Full-Length Mirror or Someone to Help

Ensure the tape remains level around your body by checking your form in a mirror from all angles.

Fitted Clothing or Undergarments

Measure yourself with tight-fitted garments or undergarments for the most accurate measurements.

Bust

Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest. Keep the tape level across your back. Breathe naturally and avoid puffing out your chest for the most accurate fit.

Natural Waist

Find the narrowest part of your torso, typically above your belly button and below your rib cage. Bend to one side to find your natural crease. Measure around this point while keeping one finger between your body and the tape.

Full Hips

Stand with your feet together and measure around the fullest part of your hips and rear. Ensure the tape is level all the way around. This is usually about 7-9 inches below your natural waistline.

Shoulder

Measure from the edge of one shoulder to the edge of the other, across the back. Keep the tape straight across the back.

Torse/ Bodice Length

Measure from the top of your shoulder, over the bust, to your natural waist. Measure to the length point you were looking for ie: waist length, hip length, etc

Inseam and Outseam Length

For the inseam measure from the inner crotch seam down to the bottom of the ankle or hem of pant/short. For the outseam, measure on the outer seam, from the top of the waist down to the hem or ankle of the short/ pant.

Sleeve Length

Place one end of the tape at the center of the back of your neck. Follow the shoulder line down the arm to the wrist bone, keeping the arm slightly bent for comfort and movement.
